Your body is stuck from how you use it every day
Deep tissue is built for people carrying real, chronic tension: on your feet all shift, at a desk all day, using your hands constantly at work, or dealing with the aftermath of a long flight or drive where you were stuck in one position too long. That kind of strain does not fade with a light touch, it needs real, sustained pressure to actually let go.
An hour minimum for one area.
If you have one specific area, plan on at least 60 minutes so I can actually work through it, not just skim the surface.
Essential Reset
The minimum for real deep tissue work on one or two areas, enough time to work through the tension properly.
Holistic Balance
Multi-area work when tension has spread beyond one spot, desk shoulders and a tight low back, for example.
Ultimate Renewal
Full-body deep work for when tension has built up everywhere, not just one place.
What deep tissue is actually doing
Slower strokes and firmer, more sustained pressure reach the deeper layers of muscle and the connective tissue around them, working through dysfunction that built up over weeks or months, not just the last bad night’s sleep.
Trigger points are part of this too
A lot of deep tissue work involves deactivating specific trigger points, the tight knots inside the muscle that keep it from fully releasing. Think of trigger point therapy as the precision tool inside a deep tissue session, not a separate thing.

Work that goes past the surface, to where it started
I am Mickie, a licensed massage therapist with 6+ years and thousands of sessions behind me, a lot of them spent on people whose job or daily routine is the actual cause of their pain. The spot that hurts is rarely the whole story, deep tissue work is how we get past the surface to the source.
Held a position too long, worked through it, pushed through it, deep tissue is how we undo that.
What a deep tissue session looks like here.
Firm, focused, and built around where you actually hurt.
We Talk First
Where it hurts, how long it has been going on, and what your days actually look like.
We Find the Dense Spots
Working through the muscle layer by layer instead of guessing at the surface.
We Go Slow and Firm
Sustained pressure at what you can handle, adjusted the whole time.
You Leave With a Plan
Simple guidance on stretching or icing so the relief holds past the drive home.
Slower strokes and firmer, sustained pressure that reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, aimed at chronic tension a lighter massage cannot fully release.
It can feel intense on a genuinely tight spot, but it should never be sharp pain. You stay in control of the pressure, and we talk before we start about what you can handle.
Very often, yes. Desk work, being on your feet all shift, repetitive hand use, and even a long flight or drive can all cause the kind of sustained-strain dysfunction deep tissue is built to address.
Trigger point therapy targets one specific, precise knot. Deep tissue works more broadly through the muscle layer, and often includes trigger point work wherever it is needed.
For ongoing tension, every three to four weeks is a common rhythm, though we will figure out what makes sense once we see how your body responds.
