Focused, precise massage work on a client's neck and shoulder
Is This You?

One spot always seems to be the problem

If there is a specific place that always tightens back up, a knot in your shoulder blade, a spot in your neck that seems to trigger your headaches, a hip that never fully lets go, trigger point therapy goes straight at that exact spot instead of working your whole body in general.

What a trigger point actually is

A trigger point is a tight, sensitive knot inside a muscle. It can hurt right where it is, or it can send pain somewhere else entirely, a classic example is a trigger point in the neck or upper shoulder referring pain into the head as a tension headache.

This is a subcategory of deep tissue work

Trigger point therapy is not a separate category of massage so much as the precision tool used inside a deep tissue session, direct, sustained pressure on one specific spot until it deactivates and the muscle can go back to functioning normally.

Why Choose This

Finding where the pain actually starts

I am Mickie, a licensed massage therapist with 6+ years and thousands of sessions behind me. A tight shoulder might start in the hip, a headache might live in the neck, trigger point work is some of the most precise bodywork I do, and often the piece that finally resolves pain nothing else has touched. For some clients, cupping is a good complement when a point is slow to respond.

A tight, sensitive knot in a muscle that can cause pain right at that spot, or send referred pain elsewhere in the body, like a neck knot triggering a headache.

It is a subcategory of it. Deep tissue works broadly through a muscle layer, trigger point therapy is the precise, targeted version, direct pressure on one specific point.

There is often a distinct, sometimes intense sensation right on the point as it releases, but it should feel productive, not unbearable. You stay in control the whole time.

Yes, a common pattern is trigger points in the neck and upper shoulders referring pain into the head as tension headaches. Working those points can meaningfully change how often they show up.

Some points release in one session, others that have been there a long time take two or three visits. We track how it responds and adjust from there.
